Beware of pesky recruiters…

“We were warned about recruiters at Uni – they take a cut of your salary & will keep hassling you!”

Recently shared by an early career OT & not the first time we’ve heard a comment like it.

There’s a lot of noise around recruiters & sometimes it feels like an uphill battle trying to prove you’re not a snake in the grass. 🐍😄

Most recruiters I know are good people who care about their clients & candidates & are simply trying to do a good job.

A key part of our role is following up, which can be perceived in different ways depending on the stakeholder & situation. Most of the time, we are not trying to pressure anyone, just to keep momentum & achieve an outcome for all.

If you’ve had a bad experience, I’m sorry & I hope as an industry we continue to do better.

If you have a relationship with a great recruiter, I hope they are a trusted advisor & add value to your life, the way we aim to with our candidates.

PS. We won’t take your pay, ever 😊
